Reads as follows - Johann Phillippus Sauer ( Two Brothers, 1749) This man was found at 5418 Nordhofen [Palatinate State] (19 km. west of Frickhofen; Chbks. begin 1659) and also at 5231 Oberdreis (13 km. further northwest; Chbks. begin 1675, Ref., but gaps). Johann Christian, son of Christian Sauer and his wife Eva at Lautzert, was bpt. 14 May, 1680 (Oberdreis Chbk.). Christian Sauer from Lautzert in the parish of Oberdreis married 11 Apr., 1720 Anna Christina, step daughter of Adam Becker from Vielbach. They had a son Philippus bpt. 9 Mar., 1727 at Vielbach - sp.: Philippus Knauf from Quirnbach, and Anna Maria - widow of Adam Becker at Vielbach (both Nordhofen Chbk.). "Johan Phillippus Sauer" was on the ship Two Brothers" in 1749 (S-H, I, p. 401). one of that name was in the vicinity of Davidson County, NC at an early date.
Rowan County Register, Volume 8, No. 4, Nov., 1993, page 1875. Reads as follows: Philipp Sauer arrived in PA aboard the ship Two Brothers in 1749 and settled at Mody Grick in Lancaster County, PA. By 1763 he had removed to the vicinity of Pilgrim Church in Davidson County, NC. He lived in the Pilgrim Church community, Davidson County, NC. He was an Elder in Leonard's Church, now called Pilgrim Church. He gave the land for Sowers' Church, now called Beulah Church.

20 Mar 1760. John died 22 Aug 1834 in Wetaug, Pulaski County, IL, at 74 years of age.(758) His body was interred Aug., 1834. He married twice. He
married Christine ?. He married Agnes Owens. c1776. When he was 16 years old he enlisted as a
Private in the NC Troops to fight in the American Revolution. He was with the NC Troops, commanded by General Nathaniel Greene,
when they crossed the Yadkin River, with the British General, Lord Cornwallis, in pursuit. A terrible storm prevented Lord
Cornwallis from crossing at this point, and the delay helped General Greene's troops to regroup and move to Guilford
Courthouse, the battle that was the turning point for the American troops. The battlefield in Rowan County (now Davidson County) where
John Sowers fought is called York Hill. 1829. In 1829 he and his family went to southern IL, where his son Henry Sowers had
gone in 1816 to found Sowersville Settlement in Pulaski County. 1963. In 1963 the Eqyptian Chapter of the Daughters of the American
Revolution dedicated a plaque in the Wetaug Cemetery in memory of John Sowers, Revolutionary soldier, born in NC.
