1757. In 1757 Devault Beck and his wife Catherine moved from Lancaster, PA to what is now known as the Beck's Church section of Davidson County, NC.
Devault and Catherine Beck raised their children in a cabin along Pounder's Fork of Abbotts Creek in Davidson County, NC.
Devault Beck swore an oath of allegiance to the Revolutionary Government and to the State of NC on 6 Aug., 1778. He received two land grants for 200 acres and 500 acres, both on Pounder's Fork on 4 Nov., 1784.
On 24 Apr., 1786, he sold 200 acres to his son John and 200 acres to his son George.
Devault made his will on 18 Dec., 1773, with Leonard Kern and Henry Garner, executors. This will was proved on 3 Aug., 1774, in open court, although he lived longer, as he deeded land to his son, Jacob, in 1784.
On 12 Feb., 1785, Davidson County court, NC appointed him to view and straighten the Virginia Road.

John C. Beck, Sr. was born in Becks County, PA 6 Jan., 1761. John died 15 Nov., 1843 in NC, at 82
years of age. His body was interred 1843 Beck's UCC Cemetery in Davidson County, NC. He married
Catherine Null circa 1780. Catherine was born 1761. Catherine died 1829 at 68 years of age.
He moved from PA to Rowan County (now Davidson County), NC in 1767/68.
1778. Source - Kevin Hill Beck. During the American Revolution he enlisted in the NC Militia in 1778 at the age of 17 and served many three month tours until 1781, under Capt. Peter Hedrick. This is documented from his declaration to secure a pension and he is listed in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot Index.
On 24 Apr., 1786, he received 200 acres of land on Pounder's Fork of Abbott's Creek from his father for 12 British pounds.
About 1817 he sold land to his son John. He gave his son Jacob tracts of 336, 146, and eight acres to satisfy Jacob's debts to the estates of Peter Frank and Jesse Hargrave.
In 1833 he received a pension for his Revolutionary service; it was rescinded in 1840 and reinstated after his death.
He made his will on 8 Jun., 1840, leaving his property to his children.

1807, when the area was IN Territory. The old mill still stands in disrepair along Mill Creek of Blue River, IN.
George was in the Revolutionary War (DAR membership).
